Three seek RN Breakfast job

Today I can report exclusively that a number of women have already put themselves forward to replace Patricia Karvelas as host of the ABC’s Radio National Breakfast program.

Ms Karvelas has announced plans to vacate the host’s chair and take up other opportunities with the national broadcaster.

My sources at the ABC tell me that PK, as she is known, is expected to be replaced by another female host.

I can today identify a number of previously low-profile women who are already putting themselves forward for the role.

They include Cher Gregidan, Deanne Rowan, and Henny Genderson, (all far right in main picture).

All three have stressed to me their suitability for the job.

Ms Gregidan told me that she would bring a new approach to RN Breakfast.

“I plan to re-Right the rules when it comes to the issues covered by the program and the guests given air time,” she said. “Sadly the ABC has taken the wrong approach and I can guarantee I’d take the Right approach if I get the gig, as the young people say.”

Ms Rowan told me she had “big plans” for a radical overhaul of the RN Breakfast format.

“It’s important that the ABC gets the format Right and I for one think the show is on way too early in the day,” she said. “If I am picked for the hosting job I’ll lobby hard to get Breakfast shifted to an after dark timeslot where I can do my best work.

“The ABC is also wasting too much money and resources on booking guests for RN Breakfast with actual factual knowledge of the issues under discussion.

“I’ll put an end to that sort of waste by interviewing others with wildly unjustified opinions like mine. It’s what I do in my current position and it seems to please my current network bosses which is the most important measure.”

Ms Genderson told me she would be thrilled to be selected as Ms Karvelas’s replacement.

“Being host of any ABC program would be a dream come true for me,” she said.

“It also would not be a big stretch for me. My record shows that I can do any job on the ABC.

“In fact if you follow my current output you’ll see I do a job on the ABC every single day,” Ms Genderson said.
