Opposition Leader Peter Dutton plans to invite federal and state Labor Party leaders to a “mindfulness retreat” to help secure bipartisan support for the adoption of nuclear power generation in Australia.
In a major speech yesterday Mr Dutton said he was seeking bipartisan backing for his policy to build nuclear power plants around the nation. (below)

“As always my only interest is in doing what’s best for our nation, and we can achieve that only through a peaceful and cooperative approach to this major policy issue,” he said after the speech while lighting several scented candles and an essential oil burner in his electorate office at Strathpine near Brisbane. “I want to reach out to Labor leaders to join me in that endeavour and to that end I’ll be inviting them to join me in a full weekend of silent contemplation at a rainforest retreat at the Glass House Mountains just north of this office.”
Mr Dutton did not respond when asked to clarify the cost of his nuclear power plants, and instead sat cross-legged on his office floor with his eyes closed while continuously humming.

Weight management experts have issued a warning to Australian media outlets about their “potentially damaging and dangerous” coverage of a baby penguin at Sea Life Aquarium in Melbourne. (below)

Spokesperson for Weight Watchers Australia, Ava Dupois, told a news conference that reports focussing on the size of the nine-month old penguin called Pesto had bordered on “fat shaming”.
“Pesto is no different to many humans who must endure fat shaming when all they have is a gland problem,” Ms Dupois said while inviting reporters to share with her a plate of cream-filled double-choc lamingtons.
