At the risk of giving a total has-been like Michael Kroger and a far-right-wing media platform like Sky LNPNews oxygen that neither deserves, I can’t resist the chance to take a fresh dig at the LNP’s ongoing milking of its Voice referendum victory to damage Anthony Albanese.
The latest example of this came a few days back with former Victorian Liberal Party president Kroger using a stint on Sky LNPNews host Sharri Markson’s program (at top) to declare that Anthony Albanese was the “wrong man to be prime minister” if the Voice was his “major priority”.
“Nothing has done my (sic) damage to the Albanese government than the Voice because he said to the whole country this is my major priority, and everyone thought, if that’s your major priority, you’re the wrong man to be prime minister of this country,” Mr Kroger declared. (The Bug notes the mistaken use of “my” instead of “more” in the direct quote attributed to Kroger, but that’s not important right now apart from pointing out that accuracy is no biggie at Sky LNPNews).
What is important right now is my overpowering need to tell Kroger and Markson to go fuck themselves with a rubber hose.
The only person who would be the wrong man to be prime minister of this country would be Peter Dutton for the way he gutlessly hid behind a No campaign that was the most racist and divisive in Australia’s political history. Yes, you’ve got it: the side that accused the other of being racist and decisive.
Dutton hid largely from public view during that campaign, eschewing interviews and only emerging every now and then to screech his infantile “If you don’t know, vote no!” in unison with Michaelia Cash (far right, below).

Let’s repeat for the umpteenth and by far not the last time: The Voice to Parliament was our first nation’s peoples’ preferred way of their being recognised in the Constitution. It was a totally harmless, purely advisory, concept that might just have reduced the tragic gap in terms of many life markers that shamelessly hold back those communities.
And Markson was largely right as to the support the idea had before the National and Liberal parties wrecked it for selfish and cynical political gain, as evidenced by Kroger’s latest putdown of Albanese for taking to the Australian people a referendum promise made during the 2022 election and stressed again in his victory-night speech.
Decent, caring Australians must never let pass unnoticed or uncommented on the bullshit the LNP’s chosen Voice campaigners keep spraying during that referendum campaign.
The No case was shamelessly and openly based on the risible, racist, notions that the Voice would give our first Nations people something that was not being offered to whities, that Albanese was more interesting in kicking up red dust dancing with his Abo mates than worrying about the plight of whities in our cities’ outer suburbs battling cost of living pressures, and that the Uluru statement from the heart was not just one page but dozens filled with anti-white vitriol that would lead to our capital cities having their names changed and whities having to pay to go to their favourite beach. And that’s before they’d be forced to leave Australia under a treaty giving the darkies everything!
That was indeed a long sentence to explain the mixture of racism and lies piled on top of one another, over and over again, during the Voice campaign.
So let’s pause for a moment as I regain my breath to re-offer this advice mentioned earlier to the likes of Kroger and Markson. Go fuck yourselves with a rubber hose, you dreadful pair of far-right, racist and divisive hacks!
Ditto for Dutton and the LNP and all those in the mainstream mediocre who went along with this mindless, racist and divisive malarkey.
