Can Labor survive this Mac attack?

The sad, washed-up, old hacks who compile this column thought it timely to once again reflect on all those Sky LNPNews hosts who think what they have to say on their shitty little network is somehow important in the Australian political firmament and the shaping of views therein.

Our compilers have lost track of how many “hosts” Sky LNPNews has, but for this column we salute just one – James Macpherson.

Macpherson has crawled out of his far-right-wing rabid-hole to use Bill Shorten’s announced departure from politics to give the ALP an almighty Sky LNPNews-style spray. Macpherson has told his viewer that Shorten’s resignation showed “how bad” the Labor government is”.

While we ponder whether Macpherson is reflecting badly on Shorten or his party or both, we can at least appreciate that he left that viewer in no doubt whatsoever of the absolute paucity of talent he has so cleverly recognised in Labor’s political ranks.

“Shorten’s departure now leaves an opportunity – or is it a poisoned chalice – for an MP with more ambition than sense which, let’s face it, could be anyone in the Labor caucus,” he railed.

Wow! Take that Anthony Albanese! And all his federal political colleagues!” What a talentless lot of caucus clowns you are, as opposed – and we’re guessing what Macpherson’s feelings are on this matter – the experienced, excitement machine that is Peter Dutton and his caring crew of excellent economic managers as they prepare for reelection after an unfair one-term stint in opposition. Right, Jimmy?

Macpherson also said Shorten’s resignation had come just two weeks after he said he would “absolutely” contest the next election.

That, by the way, is another absolute piece of nonsense from Macpherson. There was nothing “absolute” about what Shorten hinted at back then as to his future as the Member for Maribyrnong. There was a “at this point in time” feel to Shorten’s words that would have raised the eyebrows of any competent observer of politics who understands political speak. Which sadly excludes Macpherson from its membership. You do need, after all, an open mind to see politics clearly.

The Media Glass House continues to marvel at this endless, mindless, procession of Sky LNPNews “hosts” with their venomous hostility to all things Labor in Australia and, currently, Kamala Harris and the Democrats in the US for their temerity in challenging their hero, the only man capable of saving America from itself, Donald Trump!

But that’s Sky LNPNews for you. If it’s not all those hosts banging on with their far-right rhetoric in their eponymous hour-long slots, it’s commentary from far-right stinkers from far-right organisations such as the Institute of Public Affairs or washed up old Liberals such as Bronwyn Bishop or Tony “Why are people still laughing about my short-lived prime ministership?” Abbott.

What Sky LNPNews hosts and their carefully selected guest commentators serve up would remain laugh-out loud laughable if it wasn’t such a sad reflection on the woeful state of this nation’s mainstream mediocre.
