Mitchell headlines Murdoch marathon

A new star is shining in The Australian stand-up comedy firmament after former editor-in chief of the Murdoch media’s national broadshit took to the stage at comedy hot-spot, the Holt Street Bunker, at the weekend.

Chris Mitchell headlined a comedy marathon with a raft of other Murdoch minions delivering side-splitting routines which inevitably sparked some vigorous heckling from the Bunker’s audience.

Mitchell’s act focussed on an old favourite – the ABC – and he began by bemoaning the fact that former short-lived News Crap Australia CEO, Kim Williams, has been chair of the national broadcaster for almost six months yet still hasn’t closed it down.

Mitchell then launched into a string of jokes comparing Williams with previous ABC senior execs such as ex-CEO Mark Scott who introduced innovative new services but also hadn’t gone far enough.
