Netanyahu ‘as engaged as ever’: Blinken

GAZA GENOCIDE:

TEL AVIV: US Secretary Of State, Antony Blinken, has rejected suggestions that he is wasting his time by attempting yet again to convince Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza.

Speaking at a news conference with Mr Netanyahu (main picture) Mr Blinken outlined the “bridging proposal” Israel had so far agreed to support but dismissed suggestions that the Prime Minister was not genuinely interested in achieving a final deal to end Palestinian deaths and the destruction of Gaza and deliver Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas since the terrorist group’s deadly October 7 attacks.

“This is my ninth trip to the Middle East since the October attacks, which means it’s the ninth time I have met Mr Netanyahu to discuss a resolution to the Gaza conflict which continues to cost Palestinian lives every day it is not brought to an end,” Mr Blinken said.

“On this trip I have noticed no discernible difference in the Prime Minister’s attitude. He is just as engaged in the peace process on this trip as he has been on the previous eight visits I have made here.”

Mr Blinken then invited Mr Netanyahu to make his own comments to the assembled reporters about the progress made so far towards a peace settlement but he remained silent and immobile.

Undeterred, Mr Blinken continued: “I must add that I consider this trip to be the make-or-break moment.

“If we fail to reach agreement on this trip then I fear the heavy death toll of innocent Palestinians in Gaza will continue indefinitely, probably until there is nobody left alive there at all,” he said.

At that a member of Mr Netanyahu’s staff pasted an even broader smile on the Israeli leader’s face before carrying him from the room under his arm.
