SYDNEY: Local government authorities around the nation are starting to clear away hundreds of thousands of television sets left out on footpaths as an apparently spontaneous tribute to Larry Emdur’s Gold Logie win here on Sunday night.
The vast majority of the sets are vintage and include 14-inch black-and-white Thorn, Astor and AWA sets from the late 50s and early 60s, believed to reflect the basic demography of Emdur’s enduring fan base, namely people who can remember the original TV Week magazine.

MELBOURNE: The future of Rex airlines appears to be a little rosier with a possible buyer inspecting the company’s existing fleet that still services its original regional destinations, ones that may still be profitable for a scaled-down operation.
“We know that fleet is ageing but we just need to ensure they are still serviceable and fit for purpose,” a spokesperson for the potential buyers told The Bug.

CANBERRA: Opposition Leader Peter Dutton (below, far right) is not only determined to proceed with his defamation case against Zali Steggall but he hopes he loses the case, according to senior members of his own staff.

“If a court upholds Steggall’s claim that he is a racist, Peter firmly believes that will endear him to a clear majority of Australians and catapult him into The Lodge,” one of those insiders said.
“Given the outcome of the Voice referendum, none of us can see any fault whatsoever with his reasoning”.
