Queensland Premier Steven Miles will seek constitutional legal advice as to whether he can cancel the October 26 state election and simply hand over government now to Opposition Leader David Crisafulli and the LNP “to save time and money”.
Mr Miles’s decision came after he sensibly accepted stinging criticism from arguably one of this nation’s finest politics commentators and columnists in Caroline Di Russo.
One of the Sky LNPNews’ many hosts, Di Russo used her time on the network’s The Kenny Report to tell that show’s host Chris Kenny and their handful of viewers that the Miles government has “no concept or care” for “budget responsibility”.
Her comments came as Queensland’s 50-cent public transport fares began on Monday.
“His [Queensland Premier Steven Miles] government is at the point that it’s like do all things necessary to stem the loss of blood for October,” Ms Di Russo told Kenny, showing she was more than just keeping well abreast of Sunshine State politics.

“They have absolutely no concept or care for any sort of budget responsibility whatsoever.
“This [the 50c transport fare trial] isn’t even the most egregious of it.
“Their subsidies for energy costs are much more egregious,” she thundered.
A source from with the Premier’s office told The Bug: “Steven already suspected his was a lost cause come the October poll.
“He’s not a fucking idiot. The opinion polls all say Labor is heading for a bloodbath loss and even his hare-brained scheme for state-owned petrol stations shows just how pathetically desperate he has become in trying to avoid the inevitable landslide to the LNP that all the Murdoch media and not just Sky LNPNews are gleefully predicting.
“Di Russo made him face that reality and he’s now just doing the honourable thing. By transferring power to the LNP he simply wants to save Queensland taxpayers time and money.
“You have to give him credit for that at least.
“And my comments about that laughable state-owned petrol stations plan are off the record, okay?”
