Quiz show pilot bombs

Today I can reveal exclusively for the reader of The Bug that a proposed new TV quiz show featuring US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been officially put on hold.

The proposed new show, titled I’m Warning You!, was to be hosted by White House national security spokesperson John Kirby. (centre in main picture between Biden and Netanyahu)

After recording a top-secret pilot episode during the prime minister’s latest visit to the White House, a full series is now in doubt unless several worrying format glitches can be resolved.

Insiders tell me that the original idea for I’m Warning You! involved Kirby reading out details of missile strikes, bombings, or ground assaults causing mass deaths of innocent Palestinians in Gaza.

“It was meant to be a mix of Would I Lie To You? and The Chase,” one source familiar with the proposed new show told me.

“Kirby was supposed to ask the two contestants a series of questions such as who supplied the ammunition for the particular attack, who carried out the attack, and how many people died, with bonus points if a contestants can guess how many innocent children were killed.

“If, during that series of questions and answers, one or the other contestant believed they knew who was responsible for the multiple deaths, they could issue a warning to the other contestant and score the points.

“But the pilot episode revealed some flaws in the format. For instance Joe Biden kept falling asleep and when he did issue a rare warning he immediately withdrew it when Netanyahu issued his own counter-warning claiming Biden’s warning was antisemitic.

“Producers decided to reconsider the format and have asked Vice-President Kamala Harris if she wants to step in and appear instead of Biden, but her people said she was busy for the next few months,” the insider told me.
