LONDON: Newly elected Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has reacted quickly to fierce criticism from Down Under, with a snap decision not to sack his entire ministerial frontbench.
Political analysts here are applauding his plucky yet likely very stubborn reaction to criticism from such a highly respected Australian political observer that would probably have forced lesser leaders to cave in to that analyst’s demands to sack his “minefield of imbeciles”.
The PM has kept in place his first-ever female Chancellor of the Exchequer, his female Deputy PM and a ministry with a majority of women for the first time in UK political history.
Those local political analysts say only time will now tell whether Starmer has made the right decision or whether Prue MacSween will be proven right in her stinging damnation of his ministerial selections.

In one of those short, sharp news bites that Sky LNPNews Australia floods the Microsoft Start search engine, often multiple times daily, MacSween said this in conversation with Sky LNPNews host Danica De Giorgio: “UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s cabinet is a combination of misfits.
“I know he was a good lawyer and prosecutor,” she told De Giorgio.
“He’s going to have to really use every skill to try and get through this minefield of imbeciles.”

LONDON: Newly minted UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is coping plenty of flak overnight here for saying he would be declaring the rest of 2024 a public holiday if England beats Spain in the European Championships football final this weekend.
“It’s been almost 60 years between drinks for the England football side and a public holiday for the remainder of 2024 would be a fitting tribute,” Sir Keir said in a statement from Number 10.
He was referring to the fact that England last tasted international glory on the pitch in the game that it invented at the 1966 World Cup.
And while his announcement shocked many, he did receive solid support from the UK Business Council.
“Given the average English person’s attitude to work, productivity might actually go up by year’s end,” the UKBC said in a statement.
