Making some poultry points

Our in-house sex therapist, freshly returned from the World Symposium on Pustulant Genital Sores in Geneva where he delivered the keynote address – Tell your partner, or let the matter drop? – offers his expert view on a matter of current public debate.

Dear Doctor Dick,

I have read a lot in recent days of the dangers involved in choking as a sexual activity to supposedly heighten the erotic experience. (below) The news stories I have heard or read all mention the possibilities of brain damage or even death from choking if one indulges in the practice.

As a teenage boy this has me very worried. Can you assure me that although I am yet to have any sexual encounter with the opposite sex, am I in danger of brain damage or death if I continue choking the chicken?

Doctor Dick replies:

Dear Peter of Pullenvale,

No, you wanker.

Dear Doctor Dick,

Well you certainly surprised me with that last answer. I could have sworn that given the subject matter of chickens you would have taken the opportunity to make some cheap reference to Peter of Pullenvale’s cock.

Doctor Dick replies:

Dear Obvious of Oodnadatta,

Don’t be fowl.

Dear Doctor Dick,

As a young and independently minded woman who enjoys sex I have regular sexual encounters with a very generous number of people each week. Sometimes dozens.

Many of them are one-night stands with men who are complete strangers to me and whom I have met at social events or just in the street, many are semi-regular encounters with men I barely know, and some involve regular sex with others who know me well including work colleagues – a sort of lots of friends with guaranteed benefits arrangement.

It has come to my attention that some in my circle of supposed friends have taken to calling me a slut. This has caused me both some pain as well as prompting me to consider whether the label is actually valid given that men who do the same are not pilloried and are in fact lauded as “studs”.

Where do you stand on the issue?

Busy Banging

Doctor Dick replies:

Dear Busy Banging of Beachmere,

You are correct. There is a distinct double standard between the way extremely sexually active males are viewed and treated and the attitudes held towards their female counterparts.

There are no real negative connotations in a man being regarded as a “stud” compared with a woman being called a “slut”. But it is a double standard which can be changed only if our society starts to treat men and women the same when it comes to the number of partners they have.

To help achieve that change I don’t think you should view the label as a negative. In fact I believe you and any women like you should wear it as a vag of honour.
