WASHINGTON DC: US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, (below) will withdraw immediately from any activity linked to resolving the deadly and seemingly intractable conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza to work on a new mission set for him by President Joe Biden.

The move follows a meeting Mr Biden held with more than 20 Democratic Party state governors in the Oval Office (main picture) aimed at settling concerns about his age and his ability to campaign effectively against Donald Trump.
The meeting was called after the President’s disastrous performance in last week’s debate against Mr Trump.
One governor who did not wish to be identified said the group was surprised at first at a suggestion from Mr Biden that he would henceforth improve his day-to-day performance by banning events after 8.00 pm and getting more sleep. (below)

“Some of us politely asked if that might raise more concerns than it settles because the presidency is a 24/7 job,” the governor said.
“But the President assured us it would work because he was immediately sending Antony Blinken around the world to negotiate with America’s friends – and our enemies – to secure guarantees that they wouldn’t try to contact the President or do anything that might interrupt his sleep, like start a war, after 8.00 pm Washington DC time.
“Of course it means Secretary Blinken will have to put on hold his shuttle diplomacy to Israel and Ukraine at least until after the November election. But that’s the price we need to pay.”
Another governor at the meeting who also did not wish to be identified said President Biden appeared to be more coherent than he did during the debate.
“The only thing I noticed – apart from the fact that the President had neglected to dress – was that his voice was much higher than usual and his lip movements didn’t always match the words he was uttering,” the anonymous governor said.
“But all of us in the room were finally convinced that he should stay the course by the First Lady, Dr Jill Biden, who appeared right at the end of the meeting from behind one of the Oval Office curtains to echo exactly the arguments the President had made.”
