This first look at The Bug‘s Xcrements-of-the-Week concentrates on the principled stand taken by West Australian Senator Fatima Payman and how it’s now gotten her into what appears likely to be permanent expulsion from the Labor Party caucus room.
To that end, our judges couldn’t go past the offering (above and below) from Pup Fiction.

Yes, we at The Bug understand that political parties have rules … and the Australian Labor Party’s rules are very strict and don’t stand for any disobedience when it comes to caucus rules.
But isn’t the Labor Party’s platform, as determined by national conferences, to support a two-state solution to the Israel/Palestinian problem. Penny “It’s hard to see things well from this distance” Wong bangs on about it enough.
And if Doug Cameron has put us on the right path here…. and we very much suspect he has…

…then maybe we can’t blame Senator Payman for being wedged over her firmly held beliefs by a little bit of Greens mischief in the Senate.
Besides, why hasn’t the ALP already voted for statehood for Palestinians? (Bug cynical aside: too many Zionists in Labor federal caucus?)
Why is it that Payman finds herself out of the tent – where resignation might be her only avenue open to her now – for no other reason than to follow her conscience and vote with her feet for the tens of thousands of Gaza citizens – largely innocent women and children – killed in Israel’s genocide there?
Someone who sees Payman’s future now being on the Senate crossbenches is Everald Compton, who also suspects she would not suffer politically from making such a move.

But many of our Xers towards the end of this past week simply praised her for her bravery and her commitment to her beliefs, with some late stern warnings for Labor over their decision to ban her from the party room.
Take it away, marquelawyers, IrmaGherd (Retired Nurse Thug), John H aka Corvus coronides and Max Le Blond.

Sinking the boot into Albanese and Labor in similar fashion were Sahar Adatia, Phillip Adams and Solo Monk.

We’ve included this piece of Xcrement from 6 News Australia for reporting on what it saw as division within Labor over the punishment handed out to the Senator. We love the words from the party source if indeed they’ve been quoted correctly. Let’s hope so! Snakes indeed!

And stranger saluted the Senator’s brave performance – and her ability to stay rigidly on message as she displayed her commitment to a principled cause – on Sunday’s Insiders program.

TOMORROW: The nuclear debate continues to fester and we look at that other debate in which poor Joe Biden didn’t go well. And let’s face it… when you can’t win a debate against the lying Donald Trump, you have indeed done very, very, very poorly indeed. Plus some other general politics guff.
