Josh back in the frame as Hamer steps aside!

MELBOURNE: Liberal blueblood Amelia Hamer has quit as the party’s candidate for the federal seat of Kooyong, easing the way for Josh Frydenberg to make a triumphant return to federal politics.

“While I am very proud of my family’s Liberal heritage and my easy preselection win suggested I would have been an asset to the incoming LNP government at the next federal election even though I’m just a girl, I’ve realised our party desperately needs a man of Josh’s calibre back in Canberra.

“I’ve done a bit of soul-searching over recent days and I know that as a girl, I simply would never have been able to match Josh’s amazing contribution to this nation in his years in power in the excellent Turnbull and Morrison governments.

“To his credit, he played a vital role in the implementation of Robodebt that tried its very best to reclaim monies by job seekers dying to rort the system, helped reduce the effects of Covid by throwing billions of unrepayable dollars at employers such as the wonderful humanitarian Gerry Harvey, and of course bequeathed the nation to the socialist Labor Party in 2022 with very manageable debt and inflation levels, as the only side of politics capable of running economies well could do.

“All those things considered, Josh 100 per cent deserves to return to Canberra to turn the LNP’s fortunes around. He is more of a Liberal person than I could ever hope to be, and that’s not because I’m just a girl of course.

“But most of all, I’m standing aside because I’m not Jewish.

“I’ll never be able to scream “Anti-semitism! Anti-semitism! Anti-semitism!” the way Josh so proudly can each and every time there’s renewed criticism of Israel’s right to defend itself by accidentally killing scores of innocent Palestinian women and children sheltering in their hastily erected tents in supposedly safe zones in Gaza.

“You can almost feel the compassion as Josh declares such things as a proud Jew, at the same time handing out photos of just-liberated Nazi deathcamps from World War 2 to reinforce the rights of Israel to live in peace in its historic and traditional homelands.

“I probably could have won Kooyong despite being just a girl, but I could never have gone to Canberra and shouted “Lest we forget the Holocaust!” with the passion and commitment that Josh exhibits so easily and so well.

“His Jewish heart really is in the right place and I’m doing the right thing in stepping aside and not only because I’m just a girl.”
