Chalmers refuses to apologise!

FEDERAL BUDGET WASHUP:

CANBERRA: Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers has not offered a complete and unconditional apology over claims that he has been trying to his best to put a positive spin on his third Budget.

A stubborn and arguably very foolish Chalmers immediately felt the need to not offer the apology after stinging criticism of his “salesmanship” of the Budget on Paul Murray’s program on Sky LNPNews yesterday.

The biting criticism came from Pauline Hanson’s One Nation chief-of-staff James Ashby (pictured at top) who virtually accused the treasurer of perpetrating a con job on the Australian people.

Ashby told Murray: “The Labor government “should be salespeople” because of all the “positive spin” they have released each day before the budget.

“Sadly, when you go into a lockup, the Labor Party’s talking points have already been delivered outside while you’re locked away for several hours, and you don’t get to get out until … just before the Treasurer, himself, delivers his wonderful speech,” Mr Ashby told the Sky LNP News host.

“It’s only a few days later, but the problem is the media have reported all the glossy good stuff, and so it’s hard then to cut through all that positive spin that the Labor Party continue to dribble out every single day.

“They should be salespeople.”

“Peter Foster, eat your heart out. You should have been part of the Labor Party, not a conman on the Gold Coast.”

The Bug’s usually reliable source in the Treasurer’s office told us: “Ashby’s criticism, coming from a political opinionista of his standing and reputation, would have been more than enough to floor a more decent politician aware of their limitations and failings.

“So in some ways, you’ve at least got to admire the Treasurer’s spunk to be out in the Senate courtyard this morning selling his Budget the very best he can, just like every other Treasurer has done since Federation.”

Paul Murray told us: “As I mentioned on my program, all Australians and not just my viewer are aware of the BS Bingo they’ve heard on Budget night.

“Chalmers must know he’s put together an absolute turkey of a Budget and the sooner we get to the election and we see the return to office of the only side of politics that knows how to manage economies well, the better! That’s my honest LNPview.”
