BRISBANE: Minders have not found Queensland Premier Seven Miles whimpering like a child and in a foetal position in a corner of his office after an horrendous attack from arguably one of this nation’s most loved and respected opinionistas, Paul Murray.
An aide told The Bug: “After we read and saw what Murray had said about the Premier on his Sky LNPNews program, we rushed to the leader’s office expecting to see him in a dark corner like that but he just waved at us from his desk and gave us a thumbs-up and a characteristic toothy grin.
“You’ve got to admire him for that. Criticism from Paul Murray would usually be enough to bring any politician down. Well, unless they had the good sense to resign immediately in the wake of such a brilliant shellacking.”
One of those short five-to-six paragraph stories Sky LNPNews places frequently – often multiple times daily – on Microsoft’s online search engine explained how Murray has slammed the “terrible” Queensland Labor government following its energy rebate announcement.
The story explained how the Miles government had allocated $2.5 billion for energy-bill relief. The state government would almost double the power rebate, meaning households will save $1,000 on their power bills from July, the post said.
But this is the section that had Miles’s minders rushing to his Executive Building office expecting the worst and ringing 000 as they did so.
“I’ve spoken before about the disgrace that is playing out in Queensland right now as they are trying to, basically, bribe voters to vote for the terrible Labor government that deserves to get flushed,” Mr Murray told his Sky LNPNews viewer.
“They should have gone four years ago, but they definitely should go at this upcoming election.”
