HIGH-RISE ATTACK:

Foreign Minister Penny Wong is seeking urgent answers from the Israeli Government about its involvement in a fatal missile strike on a high-rise apartment building at Tweed Heads on the Queensland-NSW border. (main picture)

The attack killed 12 people and injured more than 20 others including several real estate agents who were hosting a special twilight open-house inspection of a 17^th floor unit as part of its owner’s sales campaign.

A survivor of the attack said they had attended the open-house event in the riverfront building near the mouth of the Tweed River and were enjoying themself immensely until the missile struck.

“The real estate agents really put a lot of effort into the open-house,” the survivor said from their bed at the Tweed Heads Hospital. “They even catered drinks and snacks for those who turned up.

“One of them greeted me at the door and told me to take my time looking around and not to forget that they had a juice bar and that the hummus was great.

“The agent also pointed out that the views from the apartment stretched from the river to the sea.

“It was pretty much just seconds later that the missile hit,” the survivor said.

A spokesperson for Senator Wong said remnants of a US-made cruise missile bearing markings of the Israeli Defence Force were found at the scene.

“The Foreign Minister is taking this apparent Israeli attack on Australian soil extremely seriously,” the spokesperson for Senator Wong said.

“She has already taken swift and decisive action to demand an urgent explanation from Israel’s ambassador to Australia and will not hesitate to accept that explanation as soon as its given.”
