CANBERRA: An unbelievably stubborn – and arguably very, very, very, stupid – Anthony Albanese is refusing to resign as prime minister and do all of Australia a favour by quitting politics entirely after a total excoriation by arguably two of this nation’s finest mainstream media politics opinionistas.
The Australian’s media writer Sophie Elsworth, in conversation with popular and highly respected Sky LNPNews Australia host Rita Panahi, clinically dissected Albanese over his “PR disaster” and “trainwreck appearance” at a rally against men’s violence on Sunday. Pahani enthusiastically agreed with everything Elsworth was saying.
In the short online news story (at top) of what happened at that rally and the conversation between Elsworth and Pahani, Sky LNPNews reported that “Albanese was heckled at a ‘No More’ rally against men’s violence in Canberra over the weekend”.
The short Sky LNPNews piece revealed that one of the organisers at the rally accused the Prime Minister of lying after he claimed he was denied an opportunity to address the crowd.
Ms Elsworth described the situation as a “trainwreck” after Mr Albanese reduced the rally organiser to tears.
“This is now dominating news headlines and it has made him look really bad,” she told Panhani.
The Bug‘s source inside the Prime Minister’s Office told us: “You’ve got to at least admire Mr Albanese for trying to dismiss the stinging criticism these two popular and respected politics commentators have dished out here.
“In his heart of hearts, he must know that their stingingly accurate putdowns must surely prove fatal to his leadership much sooner than later.”
STOP PRESS: Sophie Elsworth’s various reports in The Australian‘s media section on what actually happened at that Sunday rally, and her Sky LNPNews interview with Panahi, have both been nominated for this year’s Booker literary price for fiction.
