…. but not fixing them when you can really gives us the shits!
.

The column that has fun with the smaller mistakes and missteps of Australia’s mainstream mediocre; that pays homage to those sweet little fishes that individually don’t amount to a full meal but collectively can cause a tummy upset over the overall state of the once great and noble craft of journalism in this country.
An online sports platform, aptly named The Sporting News, makes its debut in this edition of The Bug’s Mediocre Bytes.
And its appearance is all due to a three-minute read posted on April 10 by writer Jed Wells about the likelihood of basketballer Tasmanian JackJumpers big man Will Magnay making this year’s Olympics.
And Wells’s brainfade we’re about to have fun with here? Well, this…..

The compilers of Mediocre Bytes don’t know a helluva lot about the NBL but we know enough to clearly state: if Magnay is selected in the final Boomers squad and travels to Tokyo there’s no way in the world he’ll be playing for them.
That proud squad come July will actually be in Paris, France, where the 2024 Summer Games will be conducted. Tokyo in Japan hosted the delayed 2020 Olympics the following year.
As mentioned above, we all have brainfades. Those behind this column made some howlers in hardcopy newspapers over time and no amount of whiteout can remedy an embarrassing blue made in black and white in thousands of newspapers.
But that brainfade by Jed Wells two weeks ago now is still uncorrected on the Sporting News site. He obviously hasn’t twigged to said brainfade or been made aware of it. Equally, no-one at the platform has bothered to fix it.
And that to us is just a tad unforgiveable.
