A new name in the Australian stand-up comedy industry hit the stage recently to a rowdy reception. Lobbyist and former Labor Party political staffer and the party’s one-time Queensland state secretary, Cameron Milner, has been a regular writer of some very original satirical gems in News Crap Australia’s national broadshit The Australian. But he recently ventured into live performance at the inner-Sydney comedy club, the Holt Street Bunker, where he skewered targets as varied as soccer superstar Sam Kerr, the blowback against the Israeli Government for its genocidal actions in Gaza, as well as the “lefty” media that apparently runs the country. Who knew?
