Pacino hosts revamped 2025 Oscars

US movie legend Al Pacino will fly to Australia to undertake extensive coaching to perfect his acting style after being picked to host the live global broadcast of the 2025 Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is believed to have settled on Pacino as host for next year’s Academy Awards following the sterling job he did at this year’s ceremony when announcing the Best Picture Oscar for Oppenheimer.

But my sources within the Academy tell me that Pacino’s role will not be confined to merely linking individual presenters announcing the long list of awards. He will be host as well the sole presenter for all Oscar categories on the night.

“The Academy knows that viewer interest in the annual Oscars broadcast has been waning in recent years, mainly because the whole show is too long and overblown,” one Academy insider told me.

“Those behind the broadcast have been wondering how to address the problem and Al Pacino gave them the answer.

“What he did when presenting the Best picture Oscar is exactly what producers of the Oscars have been looking for. He walked on, announced the category, opened the envelope and announced the winner. Bang! Done and dusted in around one minute.

“So next year, with Al as host and sole presenter, instead of running for almost half a day, the whole Academy Awards broadcast will run for just 30 minutes – 20 minutes for the awards themselves and 10 minutes for the red carpet coverage.

“The Academy believes it must move with the times and reduce the running time for the Oscars or they will continue to lose viewers.

“Signing Al Pacino for a 30-minute ceremony in 2025 is just the start. From next year the ceremony will be cut even further every year with the Academy planning to have it run just long enough for a Tik Tok video by 2030,” my source told me.

Academy insiders tell me that the deal Pacino has signed for his hosting role in 2025 includes several visits to Australia over the next 12 months.

“Al is concerned that as he gets older – he’ll be 84 in April – that he is losing his trademark acting style,” one insider said.

“So before the 2025 Oscars he’ll be undergoing coaching Down Under with two experts in the ‘Pacino method’ of talking calmly before suddenly and theatrically breaking into a loud, intense, and explosive outburst.

“The Academy has identified two Australians who have perfected the style – federal politicians Bob Katter Junior and Jacqui Lambie (below) – and Al will be spending a lot of time over the next year listening to and learning from both of them,” the insider said.
