In yesterday’s first tranche of The Bug‘s Xcrements-of-the-Week, we had a go at the Aussie billionaires funding Advance Australia’s disgraceful campaign for this weekend’s byelection in the federal seat of Dunkley.

We – and various Xers – asked a simple question of the likes of Gina Rinehart: is this how you made your fortune? Thinking average Australians are fucking mugs to be taken advantage of? To be frightened with absolute bullshit nonsense?

Let’s hear from Ivan Hanna .. ‘Suburban Elite’, who we hope is reflecting what a healthy majority of voters in Dunkley are thinking.

And a quick editorial reminder from us: the cost-of-living crisis is clearly the major issue in Australia at the moment. Anthony Albanese and Labor are in Dunkley talking about that. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is shouting “an illegal armada of boat illegals is coming”, clearly presenting ideas to smugglers, and Advance Australia is spending big bucks scaring Dunkley voters about non-existent rapists, paedophiles and murderers in their midst.

And the billionaire supporters of that bullshit … these people…

… have made it abundantly clear – there are no limits, no decency, no moral boundaries, no interest in logic or truth – as they viciously strive to return to federal power the side of politics committed to making them even more filthy rich than they already are. You know, that side of politics – the Coalition – who openly declared suppressing workers’ wages was a key part of their policy framework, and who have opposed most if not all of Albanese government measures to ease cost of living pressures for low and middle-class Aussie families and workers.

Federal MP Zali Steggall deserves praise for her efforts to put an end to this sort of dreadful shit from Advance Australia.

We barely get though one of these columns without someone getting stuck into the ABC’s Insiders program, so here’s Simon Rosenberg.

And, yes, any alleged national political lead for any alleged independent and objective news organisation can compare what Advance Australia does with the work of Get Up – they are chalk and cheese – deserves to be watched by fewer and fewer people each and every week in The Bug’s view.
