Dutton cops the full wedgie

While our first batch of Excretas yesterday centred on the return of the ABC’s Insiders and the valiant efforts of host David Speers and several LNP publicists on the panel to do as much damage as possible to PM Albanese’s reputation for honesty, our entry barrel was also chokas of massive dumps on current Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.

But before we delve into what our Xers think of him, we thought we’d kick off with Peter Murphy (above and below) and his excoriation of Peter Van Onselen, especially as POV was also recently awarded The Bug‘s Media Glass House Arse-Licker for January award.

And especially as it gives us a chance to once again marvel at Peter Van Onselen’s uncanny grip on political reality. The cost of the PM’s duplicity is yet to be fully measured, he railed the other weekend.

Well, POV, we think the verdict’s in. After just about everyone in the mainstream mediocre spent days screaming “liar” and “your word is not your bond” and “promise broken!” during Newspoll’s time in the field, the pollster on Sunday night had Labor retaining its 52-48 lead with the ALP gaining a percentage primary point. A few days later, Roy Morgan has Labor rebounding to a 53-47 lead.

So, why is this so and why has this great politics academic and MSM politics commentator been totally incapable of even remotely considering the 62 percent support for Labor’s retweaked tax changes that Newspoll also revealed.

Phillip Riley clearly explained what POV could not see – or simply refused to see – that Labor had given Dutton and the LNP Opposition an almighty wedgie.

Michael Secomb explained the wedge’s effect in Dutton’s electorate while Chris Barrett summed up the Opposition’s dilemma beautifully.

Let us all never forget that if the roles of the two major parties were reversed on this issue, POV”s insightful assessments for his bosses at The Australian would be very much in line with our Xcretas’ take on such things. True, POV. You can deny that all you like but you know deep down it’s true.

Rick chimed in with a “where’s the wally Dutton” style theme.

And Glen Gibson gave 2GB and Sky fair warning that kissing Dutton’s arse could lead to serious burns!

Okay, some personal insults that we at The Bug always find favour with.

Chris icon icon Free Palestine icon took aim at the Beetrooter and didn’t miss….

…while Dogs are the best people etc, etc, etc, mauled Janet Albrechtsen…

Our only quibble with this post is that it describes Albrechtsen as a journalist. She’s not a journalist’s arsewipe.

And let’s end with two Xcretas on our beloved national broadcaster. Firstly Elizabeth Marr…

… and Sahar Adatia on the passing of The Drum.
