Dutton blasts ‘Labor’s crime surge’

CRIME:

Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party are responsible for a surge in Australia Day-related crime against Woolworths supermarkets.

In the wake of Australia Day-themed vandalism attacks on two Woolworths supermarkets in the Brisbane region this week Mr Dutton today released statistics compiled by the Sydney-based think tank the Institute of Public Affairs to highlight what he described as “Labor’s Australia Day crime surge”.

“The figures clearly show that crimes against Woolworths supermarkets motivated by Australia Day-related issues have skyrocketed under the Albanese Government,” he said. (below)

“The trend is very clear. It’s on the way up. In fact this category of crime is out of control under Labor.

“I’m not a criminologist so I can’t explain what motivates people to carry out these type of offences.

“Where on earth do they get the idea to attack a Woolworths supermarket? I’m at a complete loss on that one, I tell you.

“But it is clear that, as I predicted the day after the 2022 election, the Albanese Government has failed to tackle Australia Day-related crime against Woolworths supermarkets.

“Labor’s failure means every Australian must now hopefully… I mean every Australian must now live in fear,” Mr Dutton said.
