Mainstream mediocre, take a bow…

… even though there’s nothing to be proud of!

In a Bug award season first, the judges of our annual mainstream media Beat-up of the Year award have gifted the blue riband to …. drum roll please … not an individual ‘journalist’ but the entire MSM (well, the vast bulk of them) on one issue it continues to bang on relentlessly about.

And while there were so many issues in 2023 worthy of such a collective gong – Airbus Albo; Toto on a plane; Albanese ‘caught’ drinking $500 a bottle wine at the expense of struggling Aussies – could easily have won – we have honoured the LNP’s public relations outfit – sorry, sorry! – our MSM – and its response to the October Voice referendum result.

Namely, that Anthony Albanese has been greatly damaged by his decision to go ahead with the referendum and that Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s prime ministerial hopes have been mightily boosted by his cleverly orchestrated opposition to such a “racist and divisive” idea.

It’s all risible, rightwing rubbish, of course, and no real examination of poll results suggests any such thing – but our MSM always does what it has to do. Suck up big time to their Tory pay masters.

Doubt that, you BUGers out there? All you need to do is reverse the roles in the Voice debate to understand how entirely different the MSM’s approach would have been to the outcome.

What lyrics would have been sung heartily from the MSM political song sheet – and it’s ongoing, trust us (see below) – if it had been if Dutton as PM who honoured an election commitment to let the people decide on an issue that a thousand, and then a hundred First Nations people requested via the Voice from the Heart was their best idea for recognising First Nations people in the Constitution.

Namely, courtesy of a voice to parliament – a harmless, practical and sensible way of maybe, maybe, just closing the gap on so many life markers. Remember the process? How it travelled unsensationally through the Morrison government and at the time looked likely to win handsome support in all states.

Now, BUGers, keep those roles reversed and imagine how the MSM would have reacted if it had been Anthony Albanese as Opposition Leader who ditched bipartisanship and hitched his wagon to a racist, negative campaign based of a litany of lies, by far the worst this nation has ever witnessed.

Namely, it’s unfair that the darkies are being offered something that whities aren’t, never mind those whities have nowhere near the same problems!

Namely, Albanese is kicking up red dust dancing and flirting with the darkies and their insignificant problems and is totally ignoring average Aussies in the western suburbs who are barely holding their heads above water as they battle the cost-of-living crisis!

Namely, The Voice from the Heart is not one page – it’s more than 20 chockablock with anti-white rhetoric by darkies determined to get their country back!

Namely, they’ll change the name of Melbourne to Narme or some such thing and we whities will have to pay to go to our local beach! Look out, Treaty is coming!

It’s not even dog-whistling, is it? Blatant racism pitched at this country’s heart blackened in John Howard’s image.

It’s true that Dutton left the No push largely to a couple of First Nations traitors with their own bizarre reasons for their opposition (my, oh my, haven’t they disappeared from the political landscape, their jobs done!) but let’s not forget how the MSM would have reacted if it had been Albanese and not Dutton and Michaelia Cash screeching the absurd, childish, voter-insulting “If you don’t know, vote No!”

They would have stripped him bare. And that’s a fact.
