Are these two being sucked into….

… the MSM vortex of Labor hatred?

Really, Laura Tingle? REALLY?

Opposition leader Peter Dutton is displaying a “lethal populism” right now?

How on earth has that tumbled out of your normally fair and balanced mind?

And, really, Paul Bongiorno? Albanese has caused enormous damage to himself by carrying out his election promise to hold the Voice referendum. Really, Paul? He should have postponed the vote, as Dutton was demanding? Done that and he would have ceded all leadership to Dutton and the LNP. Very, very, woolly thinking, Paul, from someone who is much better than that.

Both of you last Saturday wrote lengthy pieces virtually agreeing with the great bulk of this nation’s discredited mainstream mediocre that Albanese has lost enormous political advantage over the Voice referendum defeat. Read between the lines of both your think-pieces and Mrs Dutton may as well start going through swatches for new curtains at The Lodge.

What the fuck is happening to you two? The bulk of the mainstream mediocre has been banging on relentlessly since October 14 on this theme that Albanese is mortally wounded and you’ve joined in. Where, oh, fucking where, are the signs that this has happened?

Here are Laura’s two telling paragraphs from her December 23 piece.

Tell me, Laura. Did the final Newspoll for the year published before your piece went live pass you by? It must surely have done so, for you to write that Dutton had clawed his way back to the centre of the political debate with his “lethal populism” that I have well and truly missed.

That poll ranked Dutton as the least likeable and least trusted leader of either of the major parties since the attributes of leadership were first tested by Newspoll in 2008. Dutton was also regarded as less caring and more arrogant than Albanese.

Is this the basis of your “lethal populism” assessment of Dutton, Laura?

Now, I appreciate the Herald Resolve quarterly political poll didn’t lob until after your piece, but it shows the LNP sitting on 32 per cent primary vote – down four from the May 2022 election – and with Albanese the preferred PM ahead 43 to 27.

Laura, Dutton’s “lethal populism” clearly needs work. You might have spotted it but the voters aren’t seeing it anywhere near that clearly. The LNP could buy every ticket in a church lucky dip and not win a prize on that primary vote base.

Now I have no idea why both of you – Laura and Paul – seem to have joined forces with the huge bulk of the mainstream mediocre who are singing lustily from their political songsheet in full support of the LNP with this tune “Airbus Albo has come crashing down; here comes clever Dutton on the charge!”

But it’s going to be a very sad fucking day for journalism in this country when the likes of you two seem very likely – either happily or by accident – to be sucked into this dreadful vortex of risible, right-wing rubbish being spun endlessly by LNP apologists right across the print and electronic media platforms right now.

Very, very, sad indeed.
