Dutton gets the Santa sack

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has been sacked as a shopping centre Santa just days before Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for the Strathpine Centre in Mr Dutton’s electorate of Dickson confirmed  that Mr Dutton had been engaged to appear as Santa for three days until Christmas Eve (main picture) but had been advised after just a few hours on his first morning in Santa’s grotto on Friday that his services were no longer required.

It is understood that his tenure as Santa, meant to soften his political hard-man image, came to an abrupt end after numerous parents lodged complaints with the centre’s management.

One mother who took her young son and daughter to see “Santa” told The Bug that every time a child asked Mr Dutton to bring them a particular present for them on Christmas Day, he  flatly said: “No!”

“He didn’t say ‘no’ just once either. He kept repeating it, louder and louder,” the mother who requested not to be identified said.

“When the children asked why they wouldn’t be getting their favoured present he told them it was Anthony Albanese’s fault.

“Then he’d say to the kids that the Albanese Government had been in office just 18 months and had already so badly mismanaged the economy that inflation was high, interest rates were up, and the cost of living was rising.

“He told the kids that he, Santa, couldn’t afford to make or deliver any presents this year and wouldn’t be visiting anyone’s home anywhere in the world until Albanese and Labor were thrown out of office.

“Without fail all the kids who sat on his lap heard the same story and all of them burst into tears.

“He also berated one child for asking for a solar-powered toy racing car, telling him that he was a ‘woke little shit’ while trying to give him a pamphlet on the Liberal Party’s nuclear power policy,” the women said.

The Strathpine Centre management said it would not be commenting on Mr Dutton’s dismissal.

However, a spokesperson did confirm that Mr Dutton had previously appeared as Santa at the centre a few years ago and had also been sacked on that occasion for yelling at children who asked for anything that he thought was made in China.

“He berated them as ‘enablers of an authoritarian regime hell bent on world domination’ and told them to be ready for war with China at any moment which upset both the kids and their parents,” the spokesperson said.
