Biden buys into court ruling

US President Joe Biden has made his first comment on the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that Donald Trump is constitutionally disqualified from running in the state’s Republican Party presidential primary.

When asked if he would be examining the Colorado findings at a White House news conference (main picture), President Joe Biden appeared to have difficulty hearing the question.

“I just had a colorectal examination not long ago but I haven’t heard the findings yet,” he replied.

Rudy Giuliani, former New York mayor and legal adviser to Donald Trump, says he has good reasons to file for bankruptcy after a court ordered him to pay $US148 million (A$220 million) in damages for defaming two Georgia poll workers as part of his efforts to claim the 2002 US presidential election was “stolen” by Joe Biden.

“I’m a victim of a huge miscarriage of justice with 148 million good reasons to file for bankruptcy,” Mr Giuliani said.

“I certainly didn’t defame those two Biden puppets in Georgia who were blatantly rorting ballots to deny Donald Trump victory.

“But because they took me to court – no doubt funding their case by using bribes paid to them by the Democratic Party – I’m now in financial difficulties.

“That’s because even as a highly trained lawyer I still needed to engage a firm of overcharging shysters – probably Democrats to boot – to defend me from this frivolous defamation action.

“They were so bad they wouldn’t even consider my idea of bribing the judge.

“So yeah, if you were me wouldn’t you be filing for bankruptcy too? Especially because in a few years when all this blows over I can declare I’m no longer bankrupt and all the cash I’ve got stashed in offshore accounts will still be there,” he said, adding that he thought some of his remarks should be treated as being off the record.

Catholic priests have welcomed the decision this week by Pope Francis to authorise the blessing of same-sex relationships.

A spokesperson for the Vatican said messages of support had been flooding in from priests around the world.

“The Holy Father’s ruling has certainly been strongly supported by priests throughout our Holy Mother Church,” the spokesperson said.

“But I admit that the feedback from altar boys and choirboys has been less than enthusiastic.”
