Sit-down Sheridan is a stand-out

Greg Sheridan – who’s more of a sit-down comedian than a stand-up – has them rolling in the aisles at the Holt Street Bunker in Sydney’s Surry Hills with his latest side-splitting show Labor’s to blame for everything so always Vote 1 Liberal!

Sheridan, who works by day as a columnist for the national broadshit The Australian, once again immerses himself in his trademark and totally believable on-stage character – the painfully tedious, near-geriatric, far-right-wing entitled white man holding forth with illogical anti-Labor views.

His current routine is based on the bizarre premise that Labor, having been in office for little more than 18 months is to blame for every shortfall in capability being exposed in the Australian Defence Forces after almost a decade of Liberal-National rule.

Full marks go to Sheridan’s costume and stage designers for his realistically repulsive character’s daggy granddad wardrobe and for positioning him centre stage seated in a big comfy chair in a warm but not too warm spotlight clasping a mug of cocoa.

Sheridan has built his latest show around the Albanese Government’s decision against sending naval support to the Red Sea where Houthi pirates are terrorising international shipping.

For those who can’t make the live show, Sheridan thoughtfully released his script to The Australian which published it in full on Wednesday. (main picture)
