Netanyahu seeks to explain

THE MIDDLE EAST:

Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu has attempted to explain the motive behind his current efforts to eliminate the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza which has caused a massive loss of innocent civilian Palestinian lives.

“All I have done is embrace the principles espoused by Japanese ‘tidying-up’ expert Marie Kondo,” Mr Netanyahu said.

“I had the pleasure of meeting her a little while back when she was visiting Israel promoting one of her books outlining the principles of her KonMari method.” (main picture)

Kondo advises followers of her method to start the process of tidying up by “quickly and completely” discarding whatever it is in your life that doesn’t “spark joy”.

Mr Netanyahu said he was especially taken by her advice after reading her book.

“It’s a very simple philosophy. If something brings you joy, keep it. If not, get rid of it,” he said.

“Ever since I read her book I have been most particular to keep only things that spark joy.

“That’s all I’ve been doing in Gaza, yet I’m being pilloried just for engaging in a bit of tidying up.

“Hamas gives me no joy, so I’m getting rid of it. I’ve got to admit that Palestinians give me no joy either. Or their apartment blocks. And their hospitals.

“So I’m getting rid of them too. It’s really all just basic housekeeping, nothing more.

“I really can’t see what all the fuss is about,” Mr Netanyahu said.

“And we’re not going to stay in Gaza forever. We’ll let someone else run it as long as we can find someone who doesn’t hate us.”
