Big blue over Bluey’s World

TOURISM:

The Queensland Government has admitted it jumped the gun and released wrong information about a new tourist attraction being planned for Brisbane.

Weekend media reports based on state government statements said the a new amusement park, Bluey’s World, would be built on a 4,000-square-metre riverside site at Hamilton. (below)

The government statement – released for publication on Sunday morning – said the new amusement park was expected to be opened by August 2024.

It was touted as a “totally immersive experience” that would take patrons into the lives of the Brisbane-based and globally popular animated series Bluey which is based on the lives of a blue heeler dog and her family and friends.

However, an urgent follow-up statement issued this morning said the government was seeking to correct the information released at the weekend.

“We wish to clarify that Bluey’s World will be based around the Australian TV detective series Bluey which screen on Network Seven in the mid to late-1970s,” the statement said.

Bluey, made by prolific media company Crawford Productions and starring the late Lucky Grills (below) was very popular so we expect Bluey’s World will generate considerable interest among tourists and locals alike.

“The Queensland Government wishes the backers of Bluey’s World every success and we believe that we are very safe in saying that the architect drawings available so far (main picture) suggest it will definitely be a Brisbane landmark,” the statement said.
