ABC Insiders host David Speers has been at it again, hey? Belittling those on social mediocre who criticise him as a mere handful of disgruntled and misguided folk totally incapable of appreciating the professional and balanced approach he has always brought to political discourse.
It’s the same message he was caught pushing in late September in 2022 by a hot mike on the Insiders set after the show’s taping when he called social media “a horrible, horrible place”.
Speers told his panel and guests that it was only “about 15 people” who were criticising his work. One panellist added they were “all anonymous accounts”.
Those comments then – like the fresh ones from Speers – are total bullshit. And expose, once again, the sheer arrogance and hubris of a mainstream media “star” who clearly sees little or nothing wrong with the current state of the nation’s MSM and continues to pour scorn on what I proudly call citizen journalists, X posters in particular.
Well, you know what, Speersie? If you want to put the MSM on some sort of pedestal and blast the countless citizen journalists who rail against the current sorry state of affairs across our media landscape, then you’re a fucking idiot and, gosh, I truly wish you would just fuck right off. Or should that be far-right off?
If you think the Newscorpse rags in our main capital cities – The Herald Sun, The Daily Telegraph and The Courier-Mail – are chockablock with reporters and columnists hellbent on giving Labor at any level of government a fair go, you are a deadset fucking goose and you should fuck off.
Ditto for the Nine Entertainment Co. radio shockjocks in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Think they are blokes (ans they mostly are) totally committed to the basic tenets of journalism, Speersie? You do? Then fuck off!
Ditto for The Australian. Reckon our one and only national broadshit and oversized dunny roll provides balanced and fair political reporting, Speersie? You do? Then fuck off!
Ditto for the commercial TV networks in Brisbane? Watch them for a few nights and then tell us you think they’re all top-shelf professional news outfits and that you don’t believe they are engaged in a concerted campaign to see the state Labor government gone at next October’s election. Do that and you still think that …. then fuck off!
The mere fact that you continue to cock your arrogant, pompous, self-important snook at social media and you clearly think the entire MSM across this nation is doing a bang-up job, then you really are beyond hope and I really do think you could improve the quality of journalism massively by fucking right off, right fucking now.
Unlike you, I will continue to applaud all those citizen journalists on X and other platforms who see things with a clarity you are sadly incapable of. Some might not always get their “its” from their “it’s” and muddle up their “there, their and they’res” but I’d give them a cadetship at The Bug any fucking day of the week over puffed-up, prima donna, pretend scribes such as yourself.
