And why the fuck haven’t they been sacked along with anyone else at Insiders who thought they were a good idea?

Want some concrete proof as to why the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s reputation for trustworthiness and professionalism has gone to putty since Ita Buttrose was appointed chair?
Well, there’s no better example than the opening sequence to Sunday’s Insiders program!
The four images shown at top are taken from the three-minute, 19-second recap of the week’s political events at the show’s beginning and all you BUGgers out there are totally entitled to shake your heads in disbelief that some graphics nerd at the program thought it was apparently perfectly reasonable to enhance/emphasise points being made by Opposition Leader Peter Dutton during Question Time late last week.
Please all bear in mind this is official parliamentary footage that’s been fiddled by someone who thinks they are LNP publicists/propaganda promoters rather than studious and devoted staffers at an organisation once know for its independence, balance and journalistic integrity.
Dutton thinks he is scoring points – and maybe he is – about why the Albanese government had not foreseen the possibility of the High Court ruling as it did on November 8 that indefinite detention of asylum seekers was unlawful.
“So, was legislation drafted in June?” Dutton asks as a June banned stamp is inserted on the footage with a nice little stamping noise and Dutton’s mob loyally and enthusiastically shouts “No!”

“Was it drafted in July?” Dutton asks as a July banned stamp appears on screen, once again accompanied by a little stamping sound that, to be fair, could have been overdone and far too trumpish – sorry, thumpish – and more “Nos” from his front and back benches.

“Was it drafted in August?” Repeat all of the above, except perhaps Sussan Ley who has clearly tired of the performance and who might very well be dreaming of a leadership challenge!

“Was it drafted in September or October?” Dutton asked, with a double anti-logo stamping with sound effects. Hmmm, stamping. Maybe by now, his supporters could have been stamping their feet as well instead of maintaining the “No!” chorus.

Can your ranter-in-residence simply repeat what was stated the beginning. And with CAPS for emphasis. WHO THE FUCK CREATED THESE GRAPHICS? AND WHY, ALONG WITH ANYONE ELSE AT AUNTY WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA, AREN’T THEY NOW OUT OF A FUCKING JOB?
I suppose we should at least be grateful that the LNP public relations officer – sorry, the ABC’s graphic artist – refrained from giving Dutton a full head of dark hair and contact lenses to make him look a little bit more human.
Even if a valid argument can be mounted that the Albanese government should have foreseen a bad court decision this month – there’s absolute no evidence from nine years of Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison governments that they would have been blessed with better foresight, seeing they wrote those laws now found to be illegal – Dutton’s little performance barely deserved inclusion in that weeks’ news montage, let alone all those stamps of approval. Put another way, Dutton’s charge that legislation should have been drafted six months ago is a nonsense.
And a final message to Ita Buttrose and the ABC’s managing director David Anderson: if you both don’t see how terribly wrong that politically biased and totally improper manipulation of footage was, then please do Aunty a favour and show both yourselves out the front door instead. Kick yourselves in the arse on your way out and let the healing process begin.
Don Gordon-Brown.
Editor’s note: Probably too late now but if the ABC isn’t going to edit IView to remove the absolute folly of those date-banned stamps, could it at least consider, purely in the interests of balance and fairness, that vision of the PM on that news review montage should include this nice little graphic our very own graphics people prepared earlier.

Just a couple of times with the appropriate glove-on-chin thump, because from all accounts – except those to be seen or heard on the ABC – Albanese gave Dutton quite a thumping after the Opposition Leader attempted to blame the Labor government for widespread community division for not being far more sympathetic to Jewish people who’ve had to put up with all that shocking footage of thousands of dead Palestinian kiddies. Kapow! Thump!
