Bibi reveals Gaza fuel plan

WAR IN GAZA:

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced breakthrough plans to allow fuel into Gaza in a bid to answer criticism from international allies about his handling of the war with Hamas.

Mr Netanyahu said his war cabinet had devised a plan that would see hundreds of thousands of litres of fuel delivered directly to families, businesses, and public facilities in Gaza every day.

“Because of the current poor standard of roads in Gaza it is impossible to send in fuel tankers,” he said.

“Instead we have devised a plan under which the fuel will be personally delivered by troops from the Israel Defence Force who will each carry about half a dozen specially designed one-litre bottles of fuel. (main picture)

“Given that Gaza is a war zone, each delivery must be done very quickly, with each bottle of fuel thrown from a distance and at night to guarantee the safety of our troops.

“So it has been necessary to use a piece of cloth inserted into each fuel bottle which will be lit to give a source of light to aid their delivery.

“I hope this humanitarian gesture will stop criticism of our efforts to ensure that in the future the Palestinian people of Gaza live in pieces …., err, I mean peace,” Mr Netanyahu said.
