The Herald-Sun‘s Andrew Bolt and Seven’s Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr have been declared joint winners of The Bug‘s Media Glass House Arse-Licker for the month of October award.
This uncoveted award announcement had been delayed a few days as our Arse-Licker judges used physical violence among themselves while arguing whether the award should have been one bestowed collectively on the nation’s lamentable mainstream mediocre for their efforts leading up to and since the October 14 Voice referendum outcome, bolstering the No case’s lies before the vote and blaming Albanese for everything since.
But in the end, they agreed that these two veterans deserved to be acknowledged for their fierce declarations post-poll that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese should resign in disgrace as a result of that vote outcome.
So well done, Andrew “Melbourne will be renamed Naarm if the Voice gets up!” Bolt and Natalie “Dutton is the true winner out of all this and he’s clearly headed for The Lodge!” Barr!
“Rupert Murdoch from Newscorpse and Seven Network owner Kerry Stokes won’t be needing to buy dunny paper for a long, long, time if these two keep up coit-cleaning of this standard,” one of our judges said, barely able to conceal his admiration for the pair as he strove to display impartiality.
“Their calls for Albanese to go are breathtaking for their audacity yet completely warranted given their total commitment to far-right-wing fuckery so clearly evident by the ring-tonguing mastery they’ve so proudly displayed here.
“Here was a PM keeping an election promise to take to the people an idea created by thousands of our First Nations people as the way they wanted to be recognised in the Constitution through a harmless, advisory body to Parliament on issues affecting them, one that had solid voter support until Peter Dutton spearheaded a No campaign based almost entirely on lies and racist dog-whistling.
“Look, we appreciate that Bolt and Barr are unabashed and proud LNP publicists which means it’s imbedded in their DNA to absolutely abhor a political leader who keeps his promises and tries valiantly to run campaigns based on fact rather than that aforementioned litany of lies and shameless racial dog-whistling that permeated the No campaign.
“So it’s entirely understandable why Bolt and Barr want Albanese to fall on his sword, seeing it’s completely his fault for losing a referendum that has never, ever, succeeded without bipartisan support.
“The only people who should be resigning are Bolt and Barr to give real journalists a chance at their jobs.
“There must be some scribes out there capable of at least pretending to be balanced and decent practitioners of our once-respected craft for at least a wee little while before it dawns on them the absolute need to give the cloacas of Murdoch and Stokes the complete and constant cleaning they crave.”
