‘No-frills’ advisory firm starts

BUSINESS:

A Brisbane man is launching a new “no-frills” consultancy firm to advise business and government on major social and political issues.

Cyril Snerd, self-employed plumber from Boondall, said he had been inspired to establish his new one-man advisory business, to be called NSS Consulting, after reading several recent news stories. (main picture)

“My interest was first sparked by a story on The Guardian Australia website citing extensive polling undertake by a research firm before last Saturday’s referendum,” Mr Snerd said.

“The polling company concerned found that people who watched Sky News were less likely to believe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders face discrimination and more likely to vote ‘no’ at the referendum. It also found that support for the voice to federal parliament was lowest among Liberal and National voters and highest among Greens and Labor voters.

“On the ABC Online news site I saw a story about an internal inquiry being undertaken for the NSW Liberal Party by a former state MP and former premier Nick Greiner who have apparently discovered that Scott Morrison’s leadership had wrecked the state party’s brand and contributed to its defeated at this year’s state election.

“Then I read another Guardian Australia story about market research commissioned by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) that revealed more than 1 million advertisements for online gambling apps aired on free-to-air TV and radio in just 12 months with the aim of luring people into betting.”

Mr Snerd said the three news stories alone had convinced him to establish NSS Consulting.

“The major attraction of NSS Consulting – or to give my new firm its full name, No Shit Sherlock Consulting – is that it will be far cheaper than others in the same market,” he said.

“For instance, without a skerrick of research I could have told anyone who’d listen that Sky News viewers think Aborigines have it too good and were going to vote down the referendum and that Liberal and National voters were least likely to back it.

“The same goes for the negative effect the malignant, lying, odious ex-PM Scott Morrison was going to have on his own party’s chances in the NSW election. I could have saved Nick Greiner a lot of legwork.

“And without any market research I could have told ACMA that greedy gambling outfits are shoving ads down people’s throats and up their cloacas anytime they turn on their TVs or radios.

“Who needs the likes of PwC and others of its ilk when I’ll be able to offer sound advice without expensive research and at a cut price? I reckon I’m on a winner,” Mr Snerd said.
