Joyce challenges Senate probe

QANTAS SENATE PROBE:

Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has accused a Senate committee and most Australian media outlets of prejudging him and the evidence he may give to the upper house inquiry into recent events involving the airline.

Mr Joyce spoke exclusively to The Bug about his fears of not receiving genuinely open-minded treatment by the committee led by National Party opposition frontbencher Senator Bridget McKenzie.

Speaking from a location he requested be kept secret, Mr Joyce said he had  been rehearsing his potential appearance before the committee (The Bug’s artist’s impression above).

“Oi do not tink Oi’ll receive a fare go before da committee,” he said. “Sorry, Oi should have said Oi do not tink Oi’ll receive a fair go before da committee.

“De Senate committee led boi dat opposition Senatore dare, Miss McKenzie, has made its moind oop about me and moi record at Qontaars as far as Oi can see.

“And as for da meeja in Ostroolia. Oi tink day orl joos repart me and anyting Oi doo or say as an unfare, sorry unfair, and borderline racist Oirish sterotoip.

“Da meeja and da Senate committee have made oop dare moinds dat Oi am guilty and day are now joost baying for moi bluud.”

Mr Joyce said he had  chosen to speak out exclusively to The Bug for two reasons.

“Do foist is dat Oi tort you’d treat me better dan orl dee udder Ostroolian meeja outlets who joost present me as an Oirish caricature.

“And second Oi believe dat you wud respect moi roit to privacy whoil Oi am out of da coontry and wouldn’t disclose where Oi am resoiding roit at da moment,” he said from his mother’s house at 38 Fergus Road in the Dublin suburb of Terenure.
