ADVERTISING:
News Crap Australia columnist and Sky News host, Chris Kenny, has signed a lucrative deal with national optometry chain Specsavers that will see his image used in the company’s advertising around Australia. (main picture)
A spokesperson for Specsavers said the deal was offered to Mr Kenny after senior company management read his column in The Weekend Australian bemoaning the “ugly” and “deceptive” scare campaigns by some backing the “no” side of the referendum on a First Nations’ voice to parliament.
His column said, in part: “There is a harsh, resentful and divisive element in the debate.”
He also wrote that the No campaign had become “a grab-bag of anti-Indigenous grievance, which makes it the worst manifestation of politics this nation has seen in living memory” plus much more lambasting the No advocates. (below)

The Specsaver spokesperson said after reading Mr Kenny’s column it was obvious he was the ideal person to feature in the company’s latest advertising campaign.
“For someone working for News Crap Australia and who also appears in his own Sky News “after dark” show, how the hell could Mr Kenny not see who are among the biggest promoters of the sort of division and grievance-peddling that his column complained about?” the spokesperson said.
“He only has to look around The Australian’s newsroom at his fellow columnists or check the Sky News ‘after dark’ schedule to identify some of the main offenders.
“If he had any lingering doubts about the type of negative, divisive, destructive, far-right organisation he’s working for, he only has to consider the recent appointment of ex-PM Tony Abbott to the Fox News board.
“Somehow Mr Kenny can’t see any of these clues staring him in the face, so he’s ideal for the new ads we plan to run,” the spokesperson said.
