GOVERNMENT INTEGRITY:
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is already planning to expand its Canberra headquarters in response to the influx of complaints it is receiving.
Since starting its work in July the NACC has been headquartered in a two-level office building in the national capital.
But chair of the NACC, former NSW Supreme Court Judge Paul Brereton, today unveiled the model for a new 42-storey extension costing $653 million. (main picture)
A spokesperson for the NACC said the commission’s current headquarters had been constantly filled with people waiting to lodge complaints. (below)

“It’s been pretty chaotic and current NACC staff and resources are very stretched,” the spokesperson said.
“Since opening for business in July the Commission has received almost 1,000 complaints about alleged instances of corruption and most of these concern the activities of the Morrison Government.
“Right now it doesn’t look like that number of complaints will be reducing in the near future which is why we already urgently need extra space to accommodate more staff, additional computer systems, and storage.
“That’s also why the NACC has decided to call the new building the MGA, or the Morrison Government Annex to give it its full name.
“We think the name is very appropriate – and I say that without prejudging any of the complaints we’ve received.
“We’re very confident that the MGA will not only endure but well into the future it will be synonymous with our core business,” the spokesperson said.
