Putin’s slip of the tongue

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been caught making sensational comments about the state of American politics and how he would handle the situation faced by former US President Donald Trump.

In translated comments made to international delegates attending an Eastern Economic Forum meeting (main picture) in the Russian city of Vladivostok, Mr Putin said that the multiple legal actions against Mr Trump demonstrated the “rottenness” of the US political system.

It shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach others democracy,” he told delegates.

“Everything that is happening with Trump is the persecution of a political rival for political reasons.”

Mr Putin went further while leaving the stage and, unaware that his lapel radio microphone was still live, said to an aide: “If I were Trump and was elected President again I’d have Biden killed very quickly.

“Then again, I can’t understand why Biden doesn’t just have Trump bumped off.”

A Kremlin spokesperson said there would be no comment on Mr Putin’s “hot mic” remarks.

Head of the diversified global company Virgin, Sir Richard Branson, is facing multiple legal actions from customers of his cruise line alleging the company has engaged in false advertising and discriminatory practices.

The Bug understands a no-class action is under way against Virgin Voyages by a range of former passengers and others who were refused tickets to cruises.

A spokesperson for plaintiff law firm Shineburn Gordlater Blackice and Mauron said it would be alleged that members of the no-class action were entitled to compensation after they had bought Virgin Voyages cruise tickets but once on board discovered the entire passenger list and all crew had previously engaged in sexual intercourse.

“We’re also mounting a case on behalf of several passengers who were refused cruise tickets because they didn’t have large and visible tattoos,” a spokesperson for the firm said.

Russian authorities are investigating the apparent suicide deaths of two staff members of the Eastern Economic Forum during its annual meeting this week in Vladivostok.

A spokesperson for Vladivostok Police said the two persons, whose identities have not been revealed, had apparently ended their lives by jumping from an upper floor of a building at the forum venue, the city’s Far Eastern Federal University campus.

“We are not releasing their names yet but I can say one of the deceased was a translator and the other was a sound technician,” the spokesperson said.
