ABC takes the low road

There was a time ABC News wasn’t just a cheap replica of tabloid sewage outlets such as those operated by News Crap Australia.

Our MGH teams believes that in those long-gone days the national broadcaster would have presented a story about pay rises for federal politicians in a straightforward manner rather than the way it appeared this week. (main picture)

Yes, we know any pay rise for pollies always sparks outrage and anger among some voters, many of whom are struggling with no or very low pay rises on relative low wages as well as with rising costs. And, yes, we know that the recent 4% increase on the well-above-average salaries paid to our MPs leads to hefty pay rises when a lot of workers are seeing no real rise in their incomes.

But did the ABC need to deliberately pick showing three major political party leaders widely grinning to illustrate the story of the decision by the independent Remuneration Tribunal?

Our MGH teams suggest it’s a photo that gives the impression they are saying “Fuck you!” to those who aren’t seeing a rise in their spending power and is worthy of the best (ie: lowest and divisive) efforts of News Crap Australia turdbloids and any shallow shock jock in the Nine stable.

Our Media Glass House researchers suspect several of the dozens of people still subscribing to a hard-copy edition of the Brisbane daily The Courier-Mail might be forgiven for thinking the News Crap Australia turdbloid had change its name.

On Thursday this week they might well have thought the paper had adopted a new and more appropriate name to reflect the stand of its content, especially its political coverage favouring far-right policies and practitioners.  (below)

But no, the “Chronicle of Evil” plastered across page one referred to a story about a Gold Coast man accused of horrendous child sex abuse.

Still, when his trial is over the paper could always resurrect the headline as its new masthead.

The Liberal National Party, ooops… sorry, we mean News Crap Australia (How easy it is to confuse the two!) continues its blatant campaign to tear down Queensland Labor Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk.

The latest offensive (in every sense) by the national broadshit The Australian has been to stalk Ms Palaszczuk while she is on leave with her partner in Italy.

It found and photographed the pair and ran a story that began: “Besieged Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has refused …blah blah blah.. something .. something … written and authorised for the Liberal National Party… etc…etc….” Readers will know the rest.

As far as our MGH teams can decipher the only people “besieging” the Premier are the News Crap reporters and photographers following her on what is meant to be a private break.

Our MGH researchers also point out that News Crap Australia has sacked almost all of its snappers across our nation yet somehow manages to find and fund one for a very questionable offshore assignment. It certainly shows the company’s priorities.

Journalism schools, if any still exist, often pose a philosophical question to their students: What is news?

Our MGH researchers all have their own views on how to answer that one.

But they all agree on one thing. This sort of barely disguised advertising content to suck up to a big advertiser (below) isn’t it – especially when it contains information breathlessly telling readers of various News Crap Australia publications how to enter a competition to win vouchers from the supermarket advertiser in question.

However, several of our MGH personnel did declare a sensible caveat to their answers.

No, it isn’t news, they said. But it certainly is News.
