The fluffy cute little blue bird is dead. It tweets no more. Where it once nested and ruffled its pretty little feathers on endless topics de jour – Twitter – has been tossed onto the hard ground below and destroyed.
And so, rather belatedly, The Bug is proud to offer (above) the fresh logo for our Twe… sorry, our Xs, or should that be Xers?, of the week from the social media platform now being run down by Elon MusX … sorry, Musk.
Goodness gracious! Xs/Xers sound as boring as bat shit, right? It’s why we at The Bug have taken the brave step of calling our weekly rundown of the very best of… Twi… X … as Xcreta and why? Because more often than not, our entrants are pouring shit on somebody or something from a great height. Perhaps whenever our week’s winner is complimentary, we might fashion an Xrater graphic with a bouquet of roses? We know all this is not perfect but, hey, if anyone out there in Bugland can come up with a better idea, give it your best shot.
So in the meanwhile, let’s say hello to our very first Xcreta of the Week, Catherine (Rollison) Williams (at top and below) having a nice little dig at that meeting of morons over in Perth being screeched at by Michaelia Cash.

Any dig at a hall full of dying old Liberals (is that a double tautology?) embarrassing themselves in front of their grandchildren and great grandchildren – by declaring they haven’t got the necessary brain cells to take a reasonable look at The Voice and see it for the sensible, simple, logical idea it is – will get our vote any day of the week.
Of course, trying to portray The Voice as too complicated/evil/elitist/racist/unAustralian to bother with was again front and centre when current Opposition Leader Peter Dutton got both cross and ticked-off with the Australian Electoral Commission, trying to find some evil intent in a ballot-counting process that’s been part and parcel of any referendum process for yonks and which they happily ticked off for this particular exercise in double-majority democracy. Muddy the waters. Create confusion no matter how stupid you might look in the process. Very Trumpian.
amante2 and Sahar channeled Bridget Archer and Laura Tinge respectively as they had this to say on that issue…

Simon Rosenberg also picked up on something Laura Tingle said on Insiders and Wazza from Melbourne amused both himself and us with his offering.

Michael J Wyllie ran across roads to suggest a very positive outcome from a successful Yes vote and some chap named Mike Carlton conversed with Marcus Stewart , with both in general agreement over the character flaws among some of those leading No advocates.

And before we leave The Voice, here’s Graham Kahabka’s thoughts on Jane Hume…

Onto state politics and our Xcreta judges really like the reactions from some of our regular Twi… sorry … Xs/Xers… to the way the mainstream mediocre overplayed a Liberal win in a by-election last weekend.
Here are Wazza from Melbourne (again!), Phillip Riley and Rick, the latter responding to a nice little effort from Sky News Australia Parody.

Josh Bornstein provided this timely observation on a thankfully short if expensive and smelly flight with a record-profit-making Qantas…

… while our mainstream mediocre continued to show us what real investigative journalism is all about by getting stuck into Anthony Albanese over his choice of lunch. Take it away, Eddie Jokovich and, with his second bite for this column, Rick again.

And let’s finish off this brand-new Xcretas of the Week column with TOM RED’s take on the always delightful Linda Reynolds and Politic@l Spinner…. yes with some praise for Bill Shorten.

Hope we haven’t come across a little too-left-wingy with those last two selections!
