Doh! It’s that bloke again.

As this column continues to report, right-wing political advertising agency News Crap Australia isn’t missing a chance to give free publicity to client Peter Dutton and his Liberal Party’s campaign to establish expensive nuclear power stations across the land instead of embracing clean renewable power sources.

The Queensland LNP MP heading a Liberal Party inquiry into the adoption of nuclear power, Ted O’Brien, (main picture) made yet another appearance in the national broadshit The Australian on Wednesday to spruik the cause in an op-ed accompanied by yet another front-page story publicising the Liberals’ embrace of nukes. (below)

Our Media Glass House teams marvel at how often and how regularly valuable editorial space has been given to peddle pretty much the same pro-nuke arguments in News Crap outlets since Dutton announced the party’s inquiry, which maybe should be renamed the party’s foregone-conclusion.

It seems to them that whenever Mr O’Brien wants to hold forth on the issue and pillory the Labor Party for its anti-nuclear power stand, News Crap quickly accommodates him.

Speaking of the national broadshit, yesterday The Oz carried a story in its online edition canvassing developments in the story about the Victorian woman who cooked up a mess of mushrooms which ended up killing three of her lunch guests.

The latest development was that the woman’s ex-husband had apparently almost died from a mystery gut illness in May last year. (below)

He had also been invited to the same launch at which his own parents had eaten mushrooms and died.

The Oz’s online story identified the man as “Simon Patterson” twice before changing his name to “Scott Patterson” when he was mentioned a further three times.

Other news sites also carried similar stories about the latest twist in the mushie yarn but identified the man on all occasions as “Simon Patterson”.

Oddly, The Oz’s online story carried a timestamp showing that by late evening Wednesday it had been updated twice since being originally posted mid-afternoon, yet the different names persisted.

Today a yet-again updated version of the story timestamped 7.27am carried the correct name throughout.

But the question remains, just who is reading copy before it’s published at The Australian? Sounds to us like a situation that’s a sure-fire recipe for lawsuits.

The BBC News website also carried a story about the Victorian killer mushroom lunch but we wonder whether its writer was just a tad too suspicious about the woman who cooked up the meal, Erin Patterson.

It recounted that three of the four guests invited to lunch had died and the fourth was in hospital in a critical condition and waiting for a liver transplant.

It then went on: “Police say they believe the four ate death cap mushrooms – which are highly lethal if ingested. Oddly, Erin is fine.”

Oddly? A bit of a loaded word, no?

Yesterday The Bug carried a story suggesting Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch and their far-right US media outlets would not hesitate to back anti-democracy thug Donald Trump in his bid to return to the White Supremacist House.

We illustrated the item with a graphic showing Rupert kissing the big fat orange spolit brat’s generous arse. (below)

Some readers may think we were a bit harsh and are willing to think that old Rupert has learned his lesson and changed his mind, considering how well his pro-Trump efforts worked out, especially the massive financial hit his Fox News took in the defamation case brought against it flowing from its willingness to entertain “Trump was robbed” vote-stealing conspiracy theories.

If any readers are willing to give Rupert and Lachlan the benefit of the doubt, our MGH researchers suggest they read the US political website Politico which overnight our time uploaded a story pondering whether or not Trump will take part in coming televised debates involving Republican Party pollies seeking their party’s 2024 presidential nomination.

The story suggests Trump might sit out the debate, but then reminds readers of a recent New York Times story identifying some movers and shakers who want the orange menace centre stage. (below)

Does anyone think such a conversation happened without the Murdochs’ knowledge or blessing?

It’s good to know they are continuing to adhere to the Fox News network’s stated aim of being “fair and balanced” – as long as such an approach doesn’t interfere with their ratings and commercial interests.
