Dutton’s NO!show at Garma

GARMA FESTIVAL:

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has made a surprise visit to the Garma Festival in the Northern Territory after spending weeks offering reasons for his non-appearance.

Mr Dutton last week said he would not go to Garma and dismissed the annual festival and its focus this year on the voice to federal parliament as an elite gathering of supporters for a “yes” vote in the coming referendum.

On his arrival at the festival site Mr Dutton denied that he had been adopting a blatantly partisan and divisive approach to the voice and its associated referendum just to inflict a political defeat on the Albanese Government.

He also faced fresh questions about why he had suddenly chosen to attend and also why he had decided to appear dressed as Captain Cook. (main picture)

“NO! I am not being divisive,” Mr Dutton said. “This is the usual casual gear I wear around the house on any Sunday.

“There is NO!thing provocative in what I have chosen to wear here today,” he said while dozens and then hundreds of dogs appeared out of nowhere and started gathering around him.

“I have NO! idea why people might say that. It’s just more criticism from woke lefties who refuse to ackNO!wledge the validity of my arguments.

“I will NO!t let it worry me. I’m just happy to be here in the NO!rthern Territory,” he said.

As his Australian Federal Police security detail tried to clear the dogs away, Mr Dutton also attempted to deflect allegations that he had ordered his RAAF VIP aircraft to send a message to those on the Garma grounds as it made its approach to land. (below)

“There’s NO! truth to the outrageous allegations that I would use taxpayer-funded aircraft in such a way,” he said.

“People who NO! me NO! that there is NO! way I would allow that,” he said.
