WASTE OF SPACE JUNK:
The Australian Space Agency (ASA) says it is investigating an incident similar to the discovery last month of a large fragment of an Indian booster rocket on a West Australian beach.
An ASA spokesperson said the latest unidentified washed-up piece of trash had been found on Cronulla Beach south of Sydney. (main picture)
“We’re not sure exactly what we’ve found at this stage,” the spokesperson said.
“But it’s clear it’s a redundant lump of washed-up useless wreckage that no longer serves any useful purpose whatsoever.
“In fact, nobody at this stage is entirely sure if it ever served any useful purpose. Ever.”
The spokesperson said the ASA was alerted to the find by Cronulla-based NSW Police officers who in turn were advised of its presence by local residents.
“It appears some locals were walking on the beach and kept hearing strange and constant noises,” he said.
“They said it sounded like someone repeatedly saying something that sounded like ‘how good is…, how good is…, how good is…’.
“The locals tracked down the sounds and discovered the useless big abandoned lump.”
The ASA spokesperson said agency staff had cordoned off the wreckage in the interests of public safety and were investigating other pieces of debris found near the major wreckage.
“We’ve uncovered some old Cronulla Sharks caps and scarves as well as a bundle of curry recipe books,” the spokesperson said.
“There were also lots of Bibles as well as a copy of the report by the Robodebt Royal Commission that had been heavily vandalised,” the spokesperson said.
