It won’t happen again, Sir! Please forgive us!
The US Secretary of State Antony Blicken has dropped in and firmly put Australia in its place over Julian Assange. He bluntly told us to back off!
And did we hear our own Foreign Minister Penny Wong correctly with her response? Words that we’ll paraphrase as “Well, we gave it out best shot to get Assange out of the UK jail he’s rotting in but we won’t be bothering with that nonsense anymore, Sir! We’re happy to let him rot in one of your jails instead, Sir!” We can’t confirm whether a snappy salute followed those words.
But it’s on this very serious matter that our tweets-of-the-week judges couldn’t go past the biting observations of former Labor Senator and party elder Doug Cameron (at top and below).

Spot on, Doug. We’re so far up Uncle Sam’s arse yet he won’t extend to Assange the leniency the US has already given to a homegrown military whistleblower. Assange has well and truly paid for his “crimes” by now.
The Bug‘s tweets barrel was chockablock this week, as usual, with attacks on perceived political bias by the ABC on a number of issues and across its various platforms. Typical were these offerings from Rev Dr Brian Brown, Dynawilly, Peter Murphy and The Big Ship etc, etc, #Yes23

There’s always Twitterverse outrage whenever Greg Sheridan appears on ABC Insiders so let’s hear from Mickey Blue #VoteYes and MFW.

Appearing almost like clockwork on another ABC TV platform the next night was Barnaby Joyce who got Rick and Kangaroo Court of Australia, etc, etc, going.

amante2 had a dig at Peta Credlin’s ongoing obsession with Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews…

… while Jo Dyer made it clear what she thought of John Howard’s contribution to the Voice debate.
