Sky News Australia has apologised to viewers for a technical mix-up that saw the accidental screening for the best part of an hour of a video featuring defecating dogs. (main picture)
A spokesperson for the subscription TV network said an investigation was now under way into the incident on Wednesday evening that prompted hundreds of calls, emails, and texts to the network’s Sydney headquarters.
“The bad news is that the video somehow went to air and we’re still trying to find out how and why that happened,” the spokesperson said.
“The good news is that the overwhelming majority of the messages from viewers congratulated us after mistaking the vision for our recently announced dedicated channel examining the Voice to Parliament.
“A lot of callers said it was the finest work our ‘after dark’ team had ever done,” the spokesperson said.

US private equity firms and major institutional investors say they are eager to invest in Elon Musk’s planned new artificial intelligence company but only if a key condition is met.
“We see great potential in the new company that Elon plans to name xAI,” said one major investment broker who did not wish to be named.
“The big private investors I represent are ready to pour millions, possibly billions, of dollars into the new venture.
“But they’ll be insisting that the new xAI company itself has a virtual CEO created entirely by artificial intelligence.
“They think if that condition is met then xAI has a far better chance of success and profitability than if that fuckwit Musk runs it himself,” the broker said.

Drivers of extra-large light-truck versions of SUVs (below) have launched an unprecedented political attack on the Albanese Government.
A spokesperson for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said hundreds of complaints had been received from owners of the vehicles.
“The complaints started arriving as soon as news broke that the government was sending another 30 Bushmaster vehicles to Ukraine,” the spokesperson said.
“All of the messages demanded to know why Ukrainians could have access to the Bushmaster but Australian drivers couldn’t.
“We’re trying right now to formulate a response to the complainants who are threatening to make this an election issue in 2025,” the spokesperson said.
