Our Media Glass House teams wanted to make a brief mention of News Crap Australia’s ongoing advertising campaign for Peter Dutton’s pro-nuclear power push.
They also want to pose a question or two on the issue which, if Mr Dutton and his chief advertising agent Rupert Murdoch have their way, will be an issue at the next federal election due in 2025.
But first, the latest plug they gave to the whole idea of going nuclear was at the start of the month in the national broadshit The Australian with a front-page story based on a speech Mr Dutton was to give outlining his backing for nuclear power.
It was accompanied by a pro-nuclear editorial, so the national broadshit has well and truly stitched itself to Mr Dutton’s side on this one. (below)

The treatment of the issue seems to be developing a pattern.
The Oz seems very willing to give over its prime editorial real estate on its front page to pro-nuclear stories, just as it did a few weeks back.
It also gave Ted O’Brien, the Queensland LNP MP and frontbencher who is running an LNP inquiry into nuclear power, yet another opportunity to spruik the cause – something it seems more than happy to do whenever Mr O’Brien feels he has something new, or even old, to say. (below)

Speaking of real estate – and we mean actual physical real estate not the editorial type – one simple question our MGH researchers want to ask is: What the fuck is Dutton doing?
He seems determined to differentiate his side of politics by rejecting further reliance on renewable energy and instead embracing the inevitable wedge issue of nuclear power.
But has he thought what the response from voters, especially home owners and even renters, will be when they are asked the simple question by their local Labor, Green, or “teal” candidate in 2025: Do you want a nuclear power station next door, down the road, in the neighbourhood, or anywhere near you and your property whether you own it or not?
Similarly, what will be the response when they are asked: Do you want a nuclear waste dump in your neck of the woods too?
Mr Dutton has started talking about building his nuclear plants on the site of current coal-fired powerhouses when they are eventually shut down.
But he is also talking about smaller modular reactors, not necessarily the huge nuclear plants we often see overseas.
So there is plenty of mischief to be made by his opponents in every single federal seat across the nation. And that’s even before Labor, the Greens, and the teals start dissecting the cost of building a raft of nuclear plants across the country.
Yet, as our MGH teams suggest, he seems unfazed and continues to talk up nuclear power aided and abetted by News Crap outlets.
Which brings us to the second simple and very logical and serious question our MGH researchers wanted to pose: Could someone in the Labor Party be writing Mr Dutton’s energy policy?
