And that’s a Glad-wrap!

This edition of The Bug‘s tweets-of-the-week concentrates on the findings of the NSW Independent Commission against Corruption that former Premier Gladys Berejiklian isn’t as decent, honest and ethical as she still thinks – and vehemently insists – she is.

Some might think the selection of this week’s winner is a little abstract under the circumstances but our judges couldn’t go past Jenny Frecklington-Jones #VoteYes, etc’s lovely little pisstake of The Australian Financial Review‘s Phillip Coorey, the “journalist” who once claimed Berejiklian was the woman who had saved Australia. Oh, Jenny …”please send a wambulance…”. Delicious!

The Twitterfield was awash this week with images of that Coorey suckpiece, as untrue then when we all thought Berejiklian was honourable as it is now we know she’s a seriously corrupt liar.

Oh, do we need another wambulance for Phil, who no doubt still thinks the sun shines out of Berejiklian’s arse.

Another reason for the judges’ choice, apart from reminding us all what an unashamed, unrepentant, dyed-in-the-wool, LNP public relations officer Coorey is, was, and will forever be, was to focus once again on how the large bulk of the Australian mainstream mediocre continue to push the line that poor Gladys’s only mistake was to pick a cad as a lover. Or a bum, to use Peter Dutton’s word for Daryl Maguire.

In that vein, we really did like this meme from The Trolling Stones…

Taking similar aim at the MSM were Dazza, bradpsychology and Tweets-of-the-Week regular Rick.

Liam Alexander took issue with Peter Dutton’s robust defence of Berejiklian…

…while Johnny Miller, Captain Nemo’s Left Sock, etc, etc, and Suzie Gold obviously did not share The Spud with Dead Eye’s view as to how virtuous Berejiklian remains despite what the naughty ICAC found.

Geof thought Karen Middleton on ABC’s Insiders summed up the ICAC’s findings and the “turd polishing” that followed immediately afterwards fairly well

Anthony Klan presented what we thought was a fair debating point….

… while Peter Murphy pondered what we at The Bug thought was a fair and reasonable question: what does a public figure have to do wrong to end up in a court of law? Be doubly seriously corrupt?

… and Bernie Dowling saw the dangers ahead if politicians think they can get away with what Berjiklian has so far gotten away with.

Regardless of the reasons for ICAC not recommending any criminal prosecution against Berejiklian for the category of severe corruption she has shown, The Bug thinks the system’s pretty rotten if ICAC tells us Berejiklian lied to its hearings and yet she won’t be, at the very least, charged over that fibbing and face some possible jail time. What message does that send to future pollies fronting up to the CCCs, ICACs, IBACs and NACCs of this country?

Just bluff and bluster and bullshit your way through and everything will be okay?
