Have mercenary on us!

Before we find our Voice on more serious matters, let’s have some fun first with recent events in Russia.

Our tweets-of-the-week judges couldn’t go past this fine effort (at top and below) from Pup Fiction. Rinehart Group leader! Rolled gold, from the get-go.

The ABC’s tardiness in response to the attempted coup in Russia caught the sarcastic eye of Coalition Tea Lady, in a response to Phillip Adams, and The Emperor’s Old Tailor.

Greg Jericho also took a swipe at Aunty…

… while The Erymanthian Boar was perhaps making excuses for the national broadcaster if indeed it was, understandably, awaiting confirmations of events over there from you know who.

Now, apart from the real fear that our readership will drop off at the mere mention of his name, Peter Dutton was the subject of some cruel comments over the past week, none more acerbic than Helen Margy in conversation with stranger, Terry Serio and Cass L.

We also admired Jenny Frecklington-Jones etc, etc, for attempting to list the Liberals’ core values as held dearly by Tony Abbott.

amante2 gave us a quick history lesson on some of the Mad Monk’s core values while Miss Polly provided a definition of conservatism that makes as much sense as any.

PRGuy backed his fellow Victorians to do the right thing while Hardy World saw more than just the one positive in a Yes vote come October.

JayJay roped the Dirty Digger into the debate and Gary Fallon couldn’t resist a quick ponder as to Sussan Ley’s IQ.

And, finally, on a totally unrelated matter, Richard Shearman takes heart at what he sees as growing trade union and Labor branch-level opposition to the Aukus nuclear submarines deal.

Oh, BUGger it! One more from TOM RED, even though it lobbed just outside our deadline. His wonderful meme ropes in various topics covered in today’s post and shouldn’t have to wait another week before being recognised and given due praise.
